A Natural Collaboration
Local Scotts Valley Business Awarded Green Certification
Local businesswoman Kenda Haines is proud to announce that
her company Noli n Nali has been awarded certification from the Monterey Bay
Area Green Business Program. This program was initially developed as a
collaboration between government agencies and the business community in order
to promote environmental stewardship. "This stewardship collaboration is a
natural for us" says Haines, whose enthusiasm is contagious. Haines
launched her organic and natural product line for mothers and children in 2007.
Since then it has quickly emerged as a leader in organic skin care with
products distributed throughout the United States as well as internationally.
Haines' dream to provide alternative products for mothers
and children was born from her own experience. "When I became pregnant with
my first son I began to read labels and do my own research. What I found
startled me. There were many toxic chemicals, synthetics, dyes, fragrances and
petroleum products that I did not want to put on my baby's sensitive skin or on
my own, for that matter. For me, healthy skin and a healthy planet are
inextricably woven together. I have since come to have a deeper understanding
of how all of our business practices effect the health of our beautiful
planet."
Mimi Desmond, head of Operations at Noli n Nali shares that
it is a team effort. "We are delighted to be aligning our business
practices with our deepest values. To be certified as a green business means we
are actively conserving energy, cutting pollution and minimizing waste. All
things we can do to take a stand for future generations! This is what our
company is all about."
